Intel Attack On EC Ahead of Findings

The Computer & Communications Industry Association is offering the following statement in response to new details released by the Financial Times and other news outlets on the latest details of the European Commission’s Intel antitrust investigation. It can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Ed Black:

“We are disappointed that Intel has apparently chosen to attack the law enforcement organization that is investigating it. This is a tactic we have seen before by other companies when they have concluded they cannot effectively argue the merits of their wrongdoing.

The European Commission’s credibility is strong and as the historical record demonstrates it has consistently struck the right balance in antitrust action in recent years with a proactive yet fair approach. We trust the EC to be both fair and thorough in its Intel investigation.

If Intel truly believes their conduct has been proper, and the investigation improper, we urge them to request that the record on the case, including the EU’s Statements of Objection, be released to the press and public. Then we will all be able to make an informed judgment.”
