CCIA Welcomes Senate Approval Of FCC Commissioner Clyburn
1/2/2013
The Computer
& Communications Industry Association is pleased the Senate has reconfirmed
the nomination of FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn for a full five-year term.
She had been serving the remainder of former Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein’s term.
The following can be
attributed to Computer & Communications Industry Association President
& CEO Ed Black:
“Since Clyburn took office, she has
been a champion of consumers, competition and universal broadband. We are
grateful Congress took action before the next session so the FCC can move
forward with its full plate of issues this year.”
The following can be attributed to
CCIA Vice President Cathy Sloan:
“Clyburn’s
focus on policies that benefit consumers and the public interest will help the
FCC navigate its full agenda in the year ahead. We will likely see epic FCC
battles over universal broadband access and interconnection in the
transition to all IP telecom networks. This year will also see implementation
of key policy initiatives such as incentive auctions. Internet users and
businesses that depend on the mobile Internet will be counting on the FCC to
hold the line on spectrum concentration and to reserve some spectrum for
innovative unlicensed use.”
