Cathy Sloan

Catherine Sloan

Vice President Government Relations


Cathy Sloan has over 25 years of experience in telecom law, regulation and legislative work.  She serves as an advocate for CCIA's policy agenda at the highest levels of the federal government and has appeared on C-SPAN 2's the Communicators Series program.  Cathy served as VP Government Relations for LDDS Communications and successor MCI WorldCom, for 9 years.  She was VP Congressional Relations, also responsible for public relations, at the trade association CompTel for 5 years before joining one of its member companies.  Cathy was a key industry player in the negotiations leading up to the passage of the Telecom Act of 1996 and its implementation by the FCC.  She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Competitive Long Distance Coalition and of CompTel.
Cathy earned a BA in Communications magna cum laude from Fordham University. She received a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Cathy began her career as an FCC intern and as an associate at a telecom consulting firm working on the antitrust case that broke up AT&T, FCC broadcast policy issues, cable TV franchising and the original round of cellular telephone system applications. She also taught a graduate political science course in telecom policy at George Washington University.

Cathy serves pro bono as an advocate for Childhelp which serves at-risk children.
