Cathy Sloan has 20 years of experience in telecom law, regulation and legislative work. Cathy was VP Congressional Relations , also responsible for public relations, at the trade association CompTel for 5 years. She served as VP Government Relations for LDDS Communications, which became MCI WorldCom, for 9 years. Cathy was a key industry player in the negotiations leading up to the passage of the Telecom Act of 1996 and its implementation by the FCC. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Competitive Long Distance Coalition and of CompTel.

Cathy earned a BA in Communications magna cum laude from Fordham University. She received a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Cathy began her career as an FCC intern and as an associate at telecom consulting firm Shooshan and Jackson, (now Strategic Policy Research) working on the antitrust case that broke up AT&T, FCC broadcast policy issues, cable TV franchising and the original round of cellular telephone system applications. She also taught a graduate political science course in telecom policy at George Washington University in the late 1980s.

Cathy served pro bono as an advocate for Childhelp in support of the Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act.
