CCIA ON MICROSOFT’S NOT APPEALING REMEDY RULING IN EUROPE

Washington, DC — Microsoft made the right decision in not appealing a European Court order compelling it to offer a version of Windows without its proprietary version of Media Player, the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) said today. This decision further confirms the wisdom of the European Commission’s handling of the case.
In late December CCIA urged Microsoft to "…declare its intention to not appeal today’s ruling by Judge Vesterdorf, and to promptly comply with the ruling in good faith."
While we claim no credit for Microsoft’s decision, it is nevertheless rewarding to see that Microsoft’s announcement conforms to the recommendation CCIA made to Microsoft that it not appeal the ruling. We are hopeful that implementation proceeds smoothly.
