File Under: 2006, CCIA

Dec 13, 2006

Washington, D.C. - The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) applauds the nomination of Peter R. Orszag as the next Director of the Congressional Budget Office. CCIA has had a long and close relationship with Dr. Orszag, who has worked with us on several projects over the years.

"Peter’s years of service in top positions in the Clinton administration, his scholarly work over the years, and his many publications on the important economic issues of the day, are indices of his professionalism, dedication, and insightfulness. He is superbly qualified for this position," CCIA President & CEO Ed Black said. "In addition his expertise on such issues as tax policy, Social Security and Homeland Security will prove especially relevant and invaluable, as the new Congress address such issues while confronting a fiscal policy crisis."

In addition to advising CCIA on the importance and validity of our policies and positions in several areas, Peter co-authored with his brother, Dr. Jonathan Orszag, and Dr. Joseph Stiglitz "The Role of Government in a Digital Age" which has been a useful guide to CCIA, our industry, and the Treasury Department on understanding whether and when the government's involvement in the private economy is appropriate.
