San Jose, Calif. – It will be a real competition of ideas as some of the leading voices in competition policy come together Monday for a workshop ahead of the Spring Von.x conference.Ed Black, President & CEO of the Computer & Communications Industry, will lead off the event March 17, along with Jonathan Askin, Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School as they present an overview of the issues painting the competition landscape.
“Competition issues are now poised to have a significant impact on the future of the global technology industry,” said Black. “While the US institutions have shown some weaknesses lately, the European Commission is jumping in to review antitrust matters and could end up setting precedents that could change the rules in other nations as well.”
Some of the biggest tech players: Intel. AMD, IBM, Double Click, Microsoft, Google, and XM, have been in the headlines recently over antitrust and competition issues.
Black is expected to explain how other issues important to the tech industry such as net neutrality and the patent abuse are also intertwined with competition and antitrust issues.
