Procurement

CCIA has long recognized the critical impact that the government --as a customer-- has on the technology market place and we have historically had significant involvement with procurement issues. Our mission, in part is "promoting open, barrier-free competition in the offering of computer and communications products and services worldwide". As such we have held the view that government procurement, while providing taxpayers with the best products at low prices, should also be a marketplace that promotes competition and a level playing field, and CCIA has actively supported government purchasing policies that foster these goals.

In the past, CCIA took an active role in helping negotiate and formulate many pertinent sections of the Federal procurement code. More recently, CCIA has remained involved in two critical areas: helping end the practice of contract bundling and encouraging the adoption of open source products in Federal systems.
