Washington, DC, May 12, 1999 – The Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) announced today that it will hold its 26th Annual Washington Caucus at The St. Regis hotel in Washington, D.C., from May 23 through May 25. The Caucus features key government figures, who will discuss, among other policy topics, critical technology and telecommunications industry issues.
“Industry related public policy issues are increasing in importance and number, and CCIA is addressing those important issues on a daily basis with key policy makers,” CCIA President Ed Black said.
“The Caucus will be a unique opportunity for our high-level corporate executives to foster dialogue and build relationships with committee chairmen, key legislators, cabinet secretaries and agency heads. It is a great occasion to shape the industry environment for the future.”
At the Caucus, CCIA will host some of our nation’s most influential policy makers. Confirmed guest speakers include Chief of Staff to the President of the United States John D. Podesta; U.S. Sens. Rod Grams, Ted Stevens and Robert Torricelli; U.S. Reps. Tom Davis, Robert Goodlatte, Rick Boucher, Sam Gejdenson and Zoe Lofgren. Additional speakers will be announced later.
Among the industry-critical policy topics expected to be addressed during the Caucus are telecommunications competition, e-commerce and the Internet, privacy, encryption, intellectual property and copyright, antitrust, export controls, Y2K, and taxes.
