Washington, D.C. August 11, 1999 – The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) announced the appointment of Mary E. Hewitt as Director of Communications.
With more than a decade of experience and expertise in public affairs and policy, she joins the Association at a critical juncture.
“With Washington getting more and more involved in the high-tech industry, our Association is committed to having the best people on hand to serve our membership,” said CCIA President Ed Black. “With her experience on the Hill and in the Administration, Mary Hewitt will be a valuable member of our team.”
Before joining CCIA, Hewitt was the Director of Promotion and Publicity for Regenrery Publishing Inc., and Press Secretary for the Congressional Joint Economic Committee.
Prior to working for the Committee, she was the public affairs specialist on technology and other issues at the Department of Treasury.
“I’m delighted to be joining an association as respected as CCIA,” Hewitt said. “The hi-tech industry is of great importance to this economy and I hope to be able to help CCIA achieve its goals in the nation’s capital.”
CCIA is an international, nonprofit association of computer and communications firms. It is the leading industry advocate in promoting open, barrier-free competition by offering computer and communications products and services worldwide. Members include software developers, telecommunications and on-line service providers, re-sellers, system integrators, third-party vendors, and equipment manufacturers. CCIA members employ more than 500,000 workers and generate revenues in excess of $200 billion.
Mary Hewitt has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University and a BA in Journalism and Political Science from Central Washington University.
