Washington, D.C. — Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and five other co-sponsors have introduced a bipartisan bill that would facilitate an analysis of broadband deployment and adoption on the U.S. economy. The bill would require a government study on how broadband affects many aspects of our economy, considering job creation, online commerce, and broadband speeds. Drawing on information from key government agencies, as well as experts and industry stakeholders, the analysis will help policymakers understand the importance of connectivity, and how the advent of advanced technologies like 5G can foster emerging innovations like the Internet of Things (IoT).
