Jakob Kucharczyk is Vice President for Competition & EU Regulatory Policy in the Brussels office of the CCIA. Mr. Kucharczyk’s work focusses on competition law enforcement in digital markets and the development of strategic and substantive positions on emerging issues in competition policy. In addition, Mr. Kucharczyk represents the association on a wide range of regulatory policy issues. These include e-commerce, online platforms, intellectual property, intermediary liability and more broadly legislative and non-legislative EU efforts related to accomplishing a Digital Single Market. His work involves frequent public speaking, press engagement, blog posts as well as more academic, in-depth contributions.
When Mr. Kucharczyk joined CCIA in June 2010, he was tasked with building up CCIA’s presence in Brussels. This included building up CCIA’s brand, establishing relationships with regulators and non-regulators, broadening the association’s membership and developing detailed positions on a variety of regulatory issues.
Mr. Kucharczyk received his BA degree in European Studies from Maastricht University where he graduated cum laude. He also holds two LLM degrees in European law from Maastricht University where he graduated cum laude and from the University of Edinburgh. During both LLM studies, Mr. Kucharczyk extensively focused on EU competition and internal market law.
A native German speaker, Mr. Kucharczyk is also fluent in English as well as Polish and has a basic knowledge of French and Spanish.
